All the preparations have been finalized for one of the biggest events of the year in Jim Thorpe, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. You combine a long winter, a fervent desire for spring, some decent weather, and revelers from all around Carbon and other counties, a fun parade and you have quite a scene.
It can’t be overstated: get here early! Festivities begin officially at 1 PM on Sunday, March 13, but Broadway begins filling up a lot earlier than that.
The weekend truly begins on Friday, March 11 with the Glengarry Bhoys show at the Mauch Chunk Opera House. Hold on to your seats if you go - it’s a very high-energy, good-time kind of performance.
This is of course, followed by the Tartan Terrors show on Saturday evening, the 12th. This group is known as North America’s Premiere Celtic Comedy Show. Indeed, Jim Thorpe has taken to this band like no other. The show is about sold out, but there may be some singles available.
