Simple.
Park behind the Train Station/Visitors Center in the County Parking Lot. Walk to everything from there.
Certain places do have their own parking: The Old Jail Museum, The Flow Restaurant.
Certain places don’t have their own parking: just about every other place on the west side of town.
B&B’s and hotels are required to have parking spaces for their customers, but they’re not available for general use.
You can try to park on Broadway and W Broadway, but on a weekend or Friday night, you’re not likely to find anything. Just sayin’.
I wouldn’t recommend even trying Race Street.
So just park at the County Lot and you’re done!
After 5 PM, it’s free! Otherwise, it’s $5 weekends and $3 all other times.

I have a motor coach group that is scheduled to tour in Jim Thorpe, in October, my understanding is that the motor coach can drop the group off at thier first sotp the Old Jail Musuem – and then go to the Train Station to park and then pick up the group when they are done and go back to the train station and park the motor coach again and the group will walk from that point to the other venues we have on the itinerary…my question is will the motor coach have to pay a fee to park everytime it goes and come back or is it a flat fee and what is the cost for the motor coach parking.
I have been to Jim Thorpe many times but never to the Opera House. Is there a way to park nearer to the Opera House other than parking behind the train station. Is there any transportation up the hill.

Hello Betty, this is Dan from the Opera House.
It’s a little tricky to park near the Opera House. There is onstreet parking but often it’s hard to find – this town was basically built for horse and buggy, sp parking can be unpredictable.
On the other hand, we’re working with the people who run the town tours through the Mauch Chunk Museum, so we shortly plan to have a service to get people up the hill at least during the colder months.
As soon as that’s set up, you’ll see it on MauchChunkOperaHouse.com
If you have a disability, you can always email us at jtams@ptd.net or call us at 570-325-0249 once you’ve confirmed that you’re coming to a show, and we can reserve a handicapped space for you right next to the venue.
