<< Return to Jim Thorpe Website
We know. There are a lot of blogs out there – why contribute another one?
Well, the main reason is that even if you live in Jim Thorpe, there’s a lot going on that you probably don’t know about.
There’s the obvious stuff: nice restaurants, hotels and B&B’s, great outdoorsy stuff to do on the river, bike trails and on the winding roads, train rides, the relaxing Mauch Chunk Lake Park, and a lot of entertainment for a town this size, at both the Opera House and Penn’s Peak.
Or you can come out just to relax, read a book, browse our unique shops and galleries. Sleep late, do nothing or very little. In any case, we’re probably surprisingly close to you and hope you find the time to visit Jim Thorpe often.
What this blog will do is give some details about what’s going on. Jim Thorpe isn’t a Disney-town. It’s best enjoyed with a modest sense of adventure, and a little inside information can help make your stay more interesting.
About the Chamber: What’s Going On is a project of the Jim Thorpe Chamber of Commerce, a council of the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce. We hope to provide you with additional information that will help enrich your experience of Jim Thorpe, PA whether you’re a visitor or resident.
The JTCC maintains www.jimthorpe.org, publishes the annual Jim Thorpe Visitor’s Guide, organizes annual events such as Fall Foliage Weekends, Olde Time Christmas, WinterFest and the Jim Thorpe Birthday Celebration, and helps facilitate other projects such as the Earth Day Celebration and the Jim Thorpe Farmers Market.
On a day-to-day basis we are involved in publicizing the town of Jim Thorpe through various means including the web, television, newspapers and magazines, and various targeted ad campaigns whose focus is to distribute our message through local, regional and northeast US channels.
If you’d like to get involved, email us at info@jimthorpe.org or simply visit one of our meetings which take place the third Thursday of each month.
