The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce presents a debate between Doyle Heffley and Justin Yaich, candidates for retiring State Representative Keith McCall’s seat on Wednesday, October 20 at 7 PM. This event will be held at the Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe and recorded by Blue Ridge Communications TV-13 for telecast at 9 PM that evening and 8 PM Thursday evening.
The event will be produced in association with Blue Ridge Communications TV-13, and the Mauch Chunk Opera House. George Roberts, Senior News Anchor for BRC TV13, will serve as moderator for the debate and a panel comprised of Dawn Ferrante – Executive Director, Carbon County Economic Development Corporation, Sharon Gaeta – Blue Ridge Communications TV-13 Reporter, and Ron Gower – Times News Senior Reporter, will pose questions to each candidate.
The debate will be approximately one hour long, consisting of an alternating format in which one candidate willaddress a given question for 90 seconds with the other candidate rebutting for 30 seconds. Each candidate will have a three-minute introduction and a two-minute concluding statement. There will be a social hour immediately following the debate.
A shuttle will be available to transport audience members to and from the Train Station Visitors Center to the Opera House, which is located at 14 W Broadway in Jim Thorpe.
