The Mauch Chunk Opera House (14 West Broadway, Jim Thorpe,) will host a very unique Halloween show on November 3, 2012. “BOOLESQUE,” a glamorous and slightly spooky production, pays homage to the classic art of the striptease.
Headlined by Jim Thorpe native Bunny Bedford and featuring local favorite Venus Mantrapp, this show also includes known Burlesque performers Sizzle Dizzle and Beelzebabe (NYC,) Eyrie Twilight and Bianca Dupree (Baltimore,) and among others, Bambi La Fleur (Ft. Lauderdale.)
Bunny Bedford, now living in Palmerton, holds a B.A. in Theater Arts from DeSalesUniversity. Ironically and unbeknownst to her at the time, she made her Burlesque debut in a high school production of “Gypsy,” a Broadway musical loosely based on the memoirs of legendary stripteaser Gyspy Rose Lee.
Bunny applied to the 2011 Jim Thorpe Burlesque Festival, where she was accepted and appeared in the “Burlesque Gala” and “The Big Reveal” at the Mauch Chunk Opera House. After delivering two solid performances there, she became a founding member of Jim Thorpe’s Dragontown Burlesque.
Most recently, she appeared at the 2012 PA Burlesque Festival in Philadelphia, where she was named First Runner Up for the Crystal Corset Award and took home $750 in prize money.
She’ll be gracing the stage of the Mauch Chunk Opera House for “BOOLESQUE” with two numbers. She will close the show with her award-winning act, a grand, electrifying samba dance with an elaborate Carnivale-style costume. Tickets are available at www.PABurlesque.com.
