We’re hard at work organizing Fall Foliage Weekends 2009. Last year we expanded the format to three weekends and added free music at four different venues up and down Broadway, all within a short walk of each other. We revamped the setup of vendors, crafters, artists and added a smaller mini-venue in front of the Mauch Chunk Opera House.

This year’s dates are 10/10-11, 10/17-18 and 10/24-25. Avoid the rush and schedule your accommodations early – a lot of people show up for this one (or should we say three)! Click here for everything you need to know about Jim Thorpe, PA.

So this year we’re trying to continue the process of improving the event to make it more enjoyable for the visitor and resident alike. There’s plenty for both to enjoy.

The free music lineup is quickly taking shape. It includes local and regional favorites like Craig Thatcher, Cabinet, Dakini, Sarah Ayers, Brosky & Meyer, and the Billy Bauer Band. We’re pulling in some other performers from outside the region such as Boris Garcia and Radio Free Earth. We’re including some other genres as well, with performances by the Bach & Handel Chorale and the Faculty Brass Quartet. We’re even scheduling the Grandmaster Band Organ, an amazing creation that is a bit hard to describe but terrifically entertaining to see.

The Anita Shapolsky Foundation Gallery serves as a remarkable indoor venue with one highlight performance from around 2-4 on 10/10-11, 10/17-18 and 10/24. The schedule is being updated as we speak and should finalize in a few days. You can keep up with it here.
